Budapest saw Karel Gott painting beautiful women in front of cameras! Although it had been twenty years since his last visit, his stay on October 1 and 2, 2005, brought the house down. Perhaps only Karel Gott can do so well (66). Budapest was at his feet. Prague 5, where the singer has lived for years sent our thirty-time Golden Nightingale winner to the Hungarian capital as a gift. The new "Buda" city celebrated the 75th birthday and Karel came to congratulate it not only with his songs but also with his brush. And scored points. The Mayor of Budapest valued the Czech singer higher than Michael Jackson and arranged for his accommodation in the city’s true gem – at the Gellert Hotel that is world-famous for its spa facilities. "I would rather give up breakfast than miss the opportunity to enjoy the spa," said Karel. His program was really busy: a press conference, a preview of his paintings, and an evening concert. The preview held in Savoy Park was attended by three TV companies that set a trap for him: In front of Karel there appeared a beautiful, partially exposed woman whereas Karel was given a sketch book and a pencil and asked to paint. At the same moment the cameras went on. Although surprised, Karel did not take more than two minutes to finish his work of art. The singer’s author reproductions bearing his own signature were a big seller. And the evening concert? A music hall seating 6,500 viewers joined Karel Gott in unison when he sang a Hungarian czardas or Lady Carneval. The pleased Karel was then taken by the local Mayor for a lively dinner party. It was not until early morning that Karel left for his hotel room saying: "It’s time I went to bed to make the spa treatment". Nobody believed it but Karel Gott managed to get both the spa treatment and breakfast before heading for the airport.
