Karel Gott at the Leipzig Book Fair - Karel Gott has been one of the most popular artists in the Czech Republic and in Germany since the 1960’s. His first comprehensive biography titled Zlatý hlas z Prahy (Golden Voice from Prague, Die Goldene Stimme aus Prag), published in German, describes his rich career in both countries; it offers an insight into both his private and artistic life and reveals hundreds of interesting things about his life, mostly including information that has not been published before. The book has been written by two renowned Czech journalists who have been working long-term with Karel Gott in the Czech Republic. The superb publication is enriched with a number of his authentic stories, including, apart from others, his describing the complicated personal situation he as singer found himself in when he moved between a divided Germany and the former Czechoslovakia. The book includes several color supplements portraying unique photographs by Czech and German photographers who approximate not only Karel Gott’s artistic beginnings and first appearance with Peter Alexander, but also his contemporary cooperation with popular German rapper Bushido and other German artists. Karel Gott will transfer to Leipzig from Saturday’s ARD + ORF Frühlingfest der Volksmusik transmission, in which he and DJ Ötzi will sing one of the songs on his new German album of duets called Leben.
