KAREL GOTT GRIPPED THE AUDIENCE IN SLOVAKIA AND ENTHRALLED THE SLOVAKS/Golden Nightingale and the Golden Voice of Prague caused an expected furor in Slovakia. When the rumor spread around that Karel Gott would host a prestigious OTO television awards ceremony on February 8, 2006 (the Slovak version of Czech TÝTÝ awards) it caused general excitement. TV viewers sat impatiently by their TV sets, some of them even turning on the recording function. Anyone who has something to do with the TV biz tried to make his way into the ceremony hall. “Karel has class. He could moderate the show standing on his head. He was witty, he extemporized and looked, as always, incredibly smart. We all envy you“, the guests present at the ceremony told to the Rytmus života weekly. Event though Karel Gott had only four items during the evening and sang one song (Cestu znám jen já from the TV children’s cartoon ‘Pohádky z mechu a kapradí’), he made his mark in the history of Slovakia’s OTO viewers poll. Is he going to be approached with a similar opportunity by a TV company in the Czech Republic or neighboring Germany?
