Lustig must rewrite his book about Karel Gott. More than five years ago, the writer Arnošt Lustig and the most successful Czech singer Karel Gott started a frequent series of occasional get-togethers that were to be captured in a book, which, according to Gott, should present different views of life combined with a ‘friendly’ talk. “At the beginning there was a coincidence or a joke. We wondered what would come out of the men talking about philosophy. A writer’s views would be confronted with the views of a singer who entertains millions of people,” said Lustig. Today, following his lawyer’s advice, he is not willing to comment the book and Karel Gott claims: “The book was not up to my expectations. We have to rework it from scratch.” What happened? Lustig finished the book but neither the singer nor his publisher liked it, which is why its release was, at least, postponed. “Then book was not finished in time, which put a lot of pressure on Mr. Lustig who resorted to writer’s license to a certain extent. That was not in sync with my ideas,“ concluded Gott, adding that both gentlemen are keen on starting the book again.
